what am i ??

it would be a very common questions which Hong Kong-ites had asked me for my 1 month spend there....

(below is a common conversation i almost have everyday in Hong Kong)

christal's answer: I am Chinese. Yes, I can speak Cantonese...

then they will start conversing in Canton with me...

then they realise I can't read Chinese

HK: why you cant read chinese?

me: cause I did not learn them in school. it is not a compulsary subject.

HK: then, "what are you?"

me: I am Malaysian Chinese

(Ma-Lai-Sai-Ngah--Wah Kiu)

What is Malaysian Chinese ?

A Malaysian Chinese is an overseas Chinese who is a citizen or long-term resident of Malaysia. Most are descendants of Chinese who arrived between the fifteenth and the mid-twentieth centuries. Within Malaysia, they are usually simply referred to as "Chinese" in all languages. The term Chinese Malaysian is also sometimes used to refer to this community.

Early Chinese settlers (from the fifteenth century in
Malacca; eighteenth century in Penang) form to a sub-group called Peranakan or Straits Chinese, who adopted many Malay customs and to varying extents (limited in Penang, almost complete in Malacca) the Malay language, but retained Chinese religious practices. In contrast, the newer arrivals (nineteenth century and later) who retained Chinese customs were known as sinkheh (新客 - literally "new guests").

The Chinese in Malaysia maintain a distinct communal identity and rarely intermarry with native
Muslim Malays for religious and cultural reasons. Most Malaysian Chinese consider their being "Chinese" at once an ethnic, cultural and political identity.

The Malaysian Chinese have traditionally dominated the Malaysian economy, but with the advent of affirmative action policies by the Malaysian government to protect the interests of ethnic Malays, their share has eroded somewhat. On most counts, however, they still make up the majority of the middle and upper income classes. As now, they became the richest ethnic in Malaysia with owned 39 percent of Malaysia's total equity as 2004.

As of 2007, they constitute about a quarter of the Malaysian population.

always wonder what do I do???

you are not the first, nor the last to ask me, what is my job scobe ?
Below are some pictures which is also part of "my last job's respondsibilities" , I should have took notice of all these too...
not the audience...
I will explain further as I go along...
Situation 1:
The cameraman is actually in shot (you can see his reflection below Wong Hei's window screen)

Situation 2:

Can see the cameraman's shadow in the water on the left screen

Situation 3:

Notice his TIE & Shirt ? they are both different colours.

There is actually a person who record all these small minor details down in hard copy & pictures.
So that they can refer back quickly to check if there's a mistake.

But why? It's the same room, same meeting, same person. Why still boleh salah?
1. Maybe this is a long scene, and its both different shot size, the director might have "pou" the Close Up of Kevin at some other time. Maybe they are overrunning.
2. Maybe they did this all together but, after Producer/Boss/somebody in the atas, did not like what he did, so need to reshoot & the wardrobe person/or person incharge no longer with this project/atau hilang diri or
something la.. so they did not take not the first Master Shot.
- to reshoot again with correct baju will cost A whole lot $$$ to get it right, you need to get location, talent, prod crew, makeup, camera crew, food & etc.
so to keep the budget low, they go ahead to broadcast this lor.
mana tahu ada orang so sharp eyes & capture all these... lol

Situation 4

Why balik rumah apply medication on his right shoulder but not his left.
You might say: He will remember he injured his right or left shoulder KAN.
NOOOO.
they might have shoot the house scene 1st before the hote lobby. (but he should rmbr too).
NOOOO. they cannot remember because the period of time in between these to scenes might be 1 week, a month or maybe even two or more.

Talents will just do what they are required to. He might be so buzy in between & he'll most probably forget this simple thing.
So the Producer will kill whoever who is supposed to have remember this down.
Nothing to do with the Talent (the guy who did the mistake)

Situation 5:

Why the AirConds are in shot?
Ask the cameraman, Director, Assistant Director & all other Production Crews.
- all these people mention above should have alteast view the Director's Monitor, before & while the camera is rolling.
Coz they should be aware what is in shot & what is not.
But again, it involves lots of talents (esp EXTRAs), costumes & location bookings = more $$$ to be spend

Situation 6:

All though it's juz 1 simple alphabet, but still takes time to redo it. So I think the director just go ahead with it.
KENA SCREW KAU KAU: Props department

Situation 7:

Harry Potter poster in shot.
Super BIG mistake.
Props person must just be too bz with his job till he lupa see the content of the poster he use, jadi salah pakai for this scene, which is supposed to be Year 1983

My mistake in my last JOB:
I must admit I did not just 1 HUGE mistake but many... coz first time do DRAMA ma... lagi aku seorang buat 5 orang punya kerja.

FIRST: I did atleast 10 scenes which have wrong baju to atleast 1 talent.
Eg: Situation # 3, Kevin's baju & tie.
Therefore we spend another 2 days to tampal my mistake.
I was not fired because i was doing 5 orang punya kerja. so i salah bagi baju mereka pakai.

SECOND: I did not write down "conti" properly in my scripts / note
Eg: Situation # 4, salah buat.
But thank God, all my talents are really great. They helped me alot by remembering what they did.
so to safe my own ass too, I disallow all of the kids to wear any jewelry on body/head. so i know they are all plain & i will not KENA.

THIRD: I prepare the wrong props
Eg: Situation # 6 & 7: I did not prepare the props as what the director was expecting.
therefore, I kena marah KAU KAU at SET. So my director sadly, still need to go ahead with what I had prepare, but 'beh syok' me dy lor... lol... Coz i only took out the props i prepared only when the scene is going to be shoot.

Yes, so this is what i do...

Because of 1 mistake which I did, we cannot help it at all, the same exact situation # 3 was broadcast nationwide in Singapore.
That's what I did to mark a historical spot in Singapore TV....

hahaha.... hope this fill up your empty Qs why all these kidda mistakes happens...
yes, working 18 hours a day for 3 weeks can DIE wei.
everyone is all stress, trying to finish off what we can ASAP. but it will still happen.
the monitor to see its only an 8inch, so some small details might be off.
we in total, overrun 3.5 days of shoot.
